Effective Date: January 1, 2022
At ENT Urgent Care (“EUC”), we believe in transparency and empowering patients to make informed decisions about their care. The No Surprises Act is a federal law that protects patients from unexpected medical bills — and we’re all for it.
What Is the No Surprises Act?
The No Surprises Act protects you from receiving surprise bills when you:
- Get emergency care from an out-of-network provider or facility
- Receive care at an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgery center but unknowingly receive services from an out-of-network provider
- Are uninsured or choose not to use insurance and request a Good Faith Estimate in advance
This law ensures that you won’t be charged more than in-network rates in many emergency and non-emergency situations, even when care is provided by an out-of-network provider.
Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
If you’re uninsured or not using insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate that details the expected cost of medical items and services before you receive care.
Under the law:
- You can request an estimate at least 3 business days before your appointment.
- The estimate will include the total expected cost of services — including tests, procedures, and follow-up visits.
- If your bill is more than $400 above the estimate, you can dispute the charges.
